Moving represents the central component of care for lawn. Mowing will increase the density of lawn and by regular mowing we can eliminate weeds. For good maintenance of lawn it is necessary to maintain the correct height of mower knives. Optimal height of our lawn should be 3 – 6 cm. Very important for care for lawn is the regularity of mowing. We recommend mowing once or twice per week depending on height of grass, type of lawn and its function.

Fertilization

Fertilization of lawn represents an integral part of care. Fertilization will provide all necessary nutrients for lawn improvement – beautiful green colour and lawn density. We can use fertilizers in different forms – liquid, crystalline or granules. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are the main nutrients in fertilizers. The appropriate time for fertilization is from May to August and before the start of the winter period. During this period, we will use fertilizers with gradual release of substances in order to provide our lawn with nutrients also during this part of the year.

Verticutation

Verticutation (aeration) represents another important component of lawn care. Verticutator is a machine equipped with knives, cutting our lawn only at depth of a few millimetres, thus aerating soil and removing felt on the lower part of lawn close to roots. It consists of dying parts of lawn and residues of cut grass. This layer blocks breathing of our lawn, receipt of water and nutrients. Spring and autumn are appropriate times for verticutation.

Mulching of soil and flower beds

Mulching of soil and flower beds is presently used in each and every garden. But not everybody knows that mulching has not only an aesthetic but also favourable impact on plants. The most frequently used organic material is bark but we can also use sawdust, hay or straw. Bark will eliminate evaporation of soil and weed growing. Naturally, also the visual appearance of our flower beds is important for us.

Cutting of decorative woody plants

Cutting of woody plants can shape, maintain or thin out our plants. The most frequently cutting is used for maintenance or thinning out the tree crown. We are using thinning out for old trees, when cutting branches at the tree trunk. Maintenance cutting is used for decorative shrubs for elimination of branches which are not appropriate for the requested shape or properly growing.
