What is the right time of preparation of swimming pools for the summer season?

The entire preparation depends on weather – night temperature should be not lower than 0 and water temperature about 10°C. In the first step the protection film or polystyrene will be removed, which protected swimming pool during the winter period against damages. Film should be completely cleaned and stored in appropriate place and prepared for full use again during the winter period.

Having stored the film, the next step includes removal of all mechanical and organic impurities close to and in the swimming pool. Professional chemical products are the best choice for cleaning swimming pool walls. These will be deposited on unclean spots and removed using a sponge or brush. Attention should be paid mainly to mechanical cleaning as the swimming pool film can be easily damaged.

And what about the swimming pool technology?

After cleaning the more technical stage will follow –switching on of the filtration unit or eventually water heating. But before this step we need to fill the swimming pool up to several centimetres below the edge. Switching on of the filtration unit and water heating should be performed really by professionals with specialized experience. After a long winter all items of the swimming pool technology will be checked, they can be damaged by freezing and cannot operate for 100 percent.

In case you will decide to do it yourself, do not forget to test the electrical connection, earthing and assemble correctly the swimming pool pump. Swimming pool chemistry should be used immediately after filling the swimming pool with water.

Water hardness will be tested using the drop tester. The required value represents 18°N, this hardness can be reached by adding the necessary chemical preparation. After that the value of water pH would change to 7.2 – 7.6. Again the exact value should be measured using a tester. For maintained swimming pools it is necessary to implement the chlorine therapy. The appropriate chlorine content in water represents approximately 0.3 - 1 milligram per litre. If necessary, we will change the chlorine content and use preparations for stabilization. Having applied all necessary swimming pool chemistry we will start the filtration unit and operate it for 24 - 48 hours.

Important notions – swimming pools

Skimmer swimming pool

The most frequent type of swimming pool. The main feature of this swimming pool is the water surface approximately 10 – 15 cm below its edges. Skimmer as such is a suction orifice, sucking water including impurities and transporting it to sand filter. During filtration water will be disinfected, cleaned and via nozzles returned into the swimming pool. Skimmer alone cannot provide correct water circulation, therefore it is important to set nozzles in order to avoid places with no water circulation as impurities would stay in such spots.

Swimming pool with overflow

It is a swimming pool in which water flows above the upper edge of the swimming pool structure into overflow groove. From there it flows into the balancing tank. From there it moves into filter and cleans and disinfections, finally transported back into the swimming pool by nozzles. The quality of water cleaning is higher than in skimmer swimming pools, as water flows into groove faster and in higher volume of water including impurities.

For the inner walls of swimming pools two types of material can be used – films or ceramic tiles.

Filtration

Represents the fundamental item of each and every swimming pool. Filtration using a pump is used for circulation and mixing of swimming pool chemistry and water in the entire pool. This technology can provide correct water disinfection. An important aspect for correct swimming pool operation and its technology is the correct placement of nozzles.

Water heating

Heating of swimming pool water can provide higher quality of the swimming pool use and extend the season. Different types of heating are available.

• Thermal pump for water heating
• Electrical heating
• Heating by hot water.

Automatic dosing of chemistry

This unit will make care for quality of swimming pool water easier. The automatic unit monitors the volume and values of the swimming pool chemistry. Sensors evaluate the content of chlorine and pH in water and if necessary automatically dose the necessary chemistry.

Counter current

It is an installation which can produce a strong water and air current, and you can swim still being on the same place. It can increase the comfort of swimming pool use.

Swimming pool coverage

For better maintenance and swimming pool care we can select among several types of swimming pool coverage technologies.
The easiest coverage will provide the bubble film, avoiding impurities and moderately maintaining water temperature. Another coverage type is the lamella coverage with electric drive. It will be produced exactly according to the swimming pool shape. It again protects against water impurities and certain types can use solar material for lamellas and increase by that water temperature.
In order to extend the swimming pool season we can use swimming pool roofing. Using this coverage type combined with water heating we can extend the season even by three months. Use of roofing is very easy. We can slide the roof and swim outside. The aluminium structure can have different shape and size with different mechanism for opening.
